EDLD 5366 Week 1 Ancient Manuscript

I found The Book of Kells to be absolutely beautiful. I was amazed at how much detail went into the book and I can’t imagine how long it would have taken to make it. There are many colors used in the pictures, but there is contrast between the complementary colors. There are shapes and colors that are repeated throughout the different images, which brings the book together. The artist was also able to create interest by placing elements asymmetrically on the page. Although the images have many details, it isn’t overwhelming. The amount of detail shows how important the book was. In fact, the attention to detail is what makes this book so memorable and it is evident that the artist was very familiar with design principles at that time!
